Assimilate launches Scratch Cine

ASSIMILATE introduces SCRATCH CINE, the Virtual Telecine for projects shot on a RED ONE digital 4K camera.

Designed exclusively for RED image files, SCRATCH CINE enables you to do common tasks, typically done on very expensive telecine systems, such as tape based dailies, one light color grading, color and shot management, or even initial r3d conforming. SCRATCH CINE also starts you on a clear upgrade path to the full file based color grading, conforming, and data management capabilities of a complete SCRATCH FINISHING system.

  • Manage r3d shots within a project: SCRATCH CINE lets you organize, group, and track all r3d shots within a production.
  • Control dailies, grading, review and approval:SCRATCH CINE supports DVI and SDI output directly to monitors, projectors, and tape decks at all SMPTE standards. This enables real-time review and color grading directly on native r3d 4K images with zero conversion time.
  • Generate tape based dailies with meta-data burn-ins. Extract HD or SD resolution versions of r3d images for layoff directly to tape with initial color grading and meta-data burned into the images for offline editorial use.
  • Conform r3D from offline editorial. EDL conform tools enable the assembly of r3d files into a single timeline for output to tape, files, or other finishing tools.
  • Develop and manage shot-by-shot color decisions. SCRATCH CINE offers advanced color tools for creating and managing the look of each shot within a production. These color decisions can be applied directly to the images and included in tape layoffs.
  • Output high resolution tape or file-based deliverables
  • With a specified hardware system, SCRATCH CINE can extract 2K high resolution images from the native r3d files and deliver them frame-accurate to tape with a variety of color grades or LUTs. This capability allows you to create high quality source tapes in real-time for use in more traditional tape based finishing workflows.
