PICTORION das werk Berlin works with a high performance SAN system to avoid transfer times and have all material ready and available in each suite. ”In our workflow, all frames from our feature films pass through our Mistika systems several times. Usually, all frames are cleaned and repaired on Mistika, and this helps our colourists because cleaned images can be graded faster and with better results”, says Christian Tröger, workflow expert at PICTORION das werk in Berlin. And further: “Mistika’s  rich toolset has saved my day many times when we discovered a problem in some frames which could not be fixed with any of the other tools, even if they are five times more expensive.”

SGO Mistika is an integrated timeline based editing, conforming, compositing, and image restoration solution. All tasks can be accomplished interactively, and most of them in realtime, while they are evaluated in their global context. For finishing a project, there is no need to move the footage to another system, all the required functions are available in Mistika V4. Mistika can link to the content even over an ethernet connection.

Christian Tröger: “We all work simultaneously in an advanced system with great efficiency. Mistika became the centre of our projects, whether PAL, HD or 2K, commercials or movies.” Examples for first-run films are German blockbuster Keinohrhasen by Til Schweiger and Palermo Shooting by Wim Wenders, which was released on Nov 20th.

The open architecture, intuitive interface, speed and scalability of the system make it the most cost effective choice for post houses that need the power and flexibility to produce and deliver any job. SGO Mistika is available for Suse Linux, the proven open operating system. Thanks to its stability and performance, Linux is the most extended operating system in high end postproduction environments
